Mr. Perfect- Linda Howard

"Jaine Bright and three close friends share dinner one night and during casual conversation, create a list of qualifications for the perfect man--some logical, some hilariously funny, some racy. Within days, their tongue-in-cheek wish list of attributes for Mr. Perfect has been leaked to the press and the resultant publicity is overwhelming. Coworkers, TV crews, and reporters barrage the quartet with comments and criticism.

As if Jaine doesn't have enough to cope with, she has a new neighbor who she suspects is a criminal. She's relieved to learn that her neighbor is really an undercover cop, but she's still wary--because smart, sexy Sam Donovan handles her sharp witticisms with easy humor, and Jaine suspects that he may threaten her heart. What Jaine doesn't know is that she's about to need Sam desperately for something other than romance because her circle of friends is in big trouble. Unfortunately, that list of qualifications for Mr. Perfect has touched off a madman's rage. All of their lives are threatened and some of them are going to die, maybe all of them, if Sam can't stop the unknown killer...."

I picked this book out of a pile of books my friend wouldn't read and had given to me to see if I would find anything I liked. Interested to see why my friend who is like me and never throws away books would throw this one away I began reading it. I read the first chapter and put it down not sure what to think and then got ready for work. While at work that night my mind kept drifting back to the book and I really began to wish I hadn't left it at home. I kept trying to figure out what would happen next. I couldn't wait to go home and read and when I picked it up again later that night after I got off of work I don't remember sleeping much that night.

It was like I was watching it play out before me. Just the right amount of detail that made it feel like I was there and not over descriptive. Perfect emotions that made me feel like I was the main character. This was by far one of the best books I have seen for just the right enough of suspense, romance, adult themes and detail. This a book I would recommend to anybody who is looking for a good murder, suspense book.

So with all this being said I rate this book from 1, I couldn't finish it to 10, unputdownable, a 9 1/2. For it was an amazing book but it wasn't enough to grab me right from the start and keep me til the beginning. It took me a while to get into it. And it turns out my friend didn't want to throw it out but she had run out of room on her bookcase and was getting ride of books she didn't read anymore to make room for more.
