Pregnant Pause - Han Nolan
Title: Pregnant Pause
Author:Han Nolan
Publisher:Harcourt
Pages:352
Release Date: September 19th 2011
From The Back: Eleanor Crowe has a mind of her own, and nobody gets away with bossing her around. She usually makes decisions based on who she can piss off most, although that hasn't always worked out so well. Now she's pregnant and sixteen--and her opinion doesn't seem to matter to everyone who's trying to tell her what to do. But as Elly's delivery date approaches, she has more questions than answers. Is she being punished for being such a rotten daughter? Does she really love this boy she married? And what's she going to do with this baby? Being headstrong got her into this mess...maybe now it can get her out of it. But is that what she really wants?
My Review: I've never read anything from Han Nolan before, so this was my first experience with this particular author. And I haven't really read any teen pregnancy books although they do intrigue me, I just never picked one up. The story in Pregnancy Pause is touching to say the least, there were times were I felt like reaching into the book and slapping the characters something good to knock some sense into them. And then, there were times that this book made me so incredibly sad that even crying didn't make it feel any better. But having a book to be able to elicit such emotion from me, or any reader actually, means the writing it good and the story is engaging. I wouldn't say this is my favourite book, or that I really loved the book, but I liked it. The one issue I had with it was that just when I thought the story was going to be wrapped up and that would be it, it kept going, normally a good thing, but it felt a little long to me. Regardless I enjoyed reading Pregnant Pause by Han Nolan, and again this is another book I will be recommending to people.
